Our Budget Preparation module simplifies the process of creating and editing your proposed budget amounts. It provides useful tools to efficiently build out your proposal. Once the proposed amounts are approved, the module can seamlessly transfer them to your regular budget accounts. Follow the steps below to create a new Budget Prep.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Select Budget Preparation from the menu on the left or by selecting Other Functions then Budget Preparation from the top menu.
- Choose Cancel on the Select Bdgt Prep # screen.
- Select Create to begin creating your new Budget Prep.
- Typically you'll create a new Budget Prep using the Create From Report Format option as this will use your current budget YTD activity and current Budgeted amounts.
- Enter the New Budget Prep #.
If you choose a number that's already been used by another Budget Preparation the previous Prep will be overwritten. If the number already exists, the program will ask you to confirm that it’s ok to overwrite the previous Budget Prep.
- Select the Report Format # from which you want to copy your accounts, YTD activity, and Budgeted amounts.
- You can modify the columns and amounts copied. Typically you'll use the default values.
- Press the Create button to create your Budget Preparation.
- After a few seconds, you'll see your new Budget Prep on the screen.
Optional: Update the Budget Prep Name
One final, but optional, step is to give your new Budget Prep a more descriptive name using the Rename function. This can help you easily identify the right Budget Prep from your list.
- Select Rename from the Budget Preparation menu.
- Enter a name for your Budget Prep in the New Name field. (Use something descriptive!)
- Select Save to rename your Budget Prep.
